The South West Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) programme is managed by Pharmacy Workforce Development South (PWDS). The programme is available across the South West, Wessex and Thames Valley regions.
The programme has been developed in line with the Nationally Recognised Competency Framework for Pharmacy Technicians in order to provide the training and assessment of pharmacy technicians who have been delegated the task of the final accuracy check of dispensed items under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Entry Criteria for pharmacy technicians:
NB: There should be no more than three attempts at any one time in completing the dispensing accuracy logs. If unsuccessful on the third attempt then a period of reflection and dispensing re-training should be completed (according to local SOPs and risk management strategies) before undertaking the Dispensing Accuracy Assessment again.
PWDS has designed the entry requirements to ensure that the trainee ACPT has sufficient experience as a pharmacy technician and has developed attributes and attitudes to accept responsibility of the role.

Please click the application button below to apply for the ACPT Programme. Once you have received your acceptance email and login details for the programme, please apply for a Practice Development Day (date and location) that is most suitable for you.
Note: If you have not already requested an exam pack, application for PDD will trigger a mock and final ACPT exam to be sent out to your Educational Supervisor (unless we have received a requested not to do so) once received the exam should be undertaken within three weeks; you are able to apply for PDD and take your exam at any point during your evidence collection, however we recommend that the PDD be attended within the first 500 items.
You may wish to discuss with your Educational Supervisor if you wish to undertake you exam at the point of attending PDD or for them to request your exam pack separately at a later time.
Please only apply for a Practice Development Day (PDD) if you have received confirmation that you have been accepted onto the ACPT programme.

Once you have completed your evidence collection you will need to apply for your Local Assessment Interview Pack below.
Please only apply for a Local Assessment Interview Pack if you are completing the new version of the ACPT programme and have attended a Practice Development Day.
If you have attended an ACPT induction you will be completing the previous version of the programme and will need to book onto an assessment day here
