TAQA Assessor Training and NVQ Assessor Updates

SWMIT is a City and Guilds registered centre for the TAQA Assessor award. This enables us to provide training which is more relevant to the pharmacy qualification, for those pharmacy technicians/ pharmacists who wish to become a qualified assessor. The TAQA Assessor award is an NVQ level 3 qualification.

The training consists of an induction day which is held at Padbrook Park, Cullompton. This is followed by a number of one to one tutorials with your SWMIT tutor at your base hospital. You will be required to build an e-portfolio of evidence based on the assessment you complete with your NVQ students. You will also need to be observed by your tutor in your work place, participate in a professional discussion with your tutor and complete a short assignment. The training should be completed within 18 months of attending the induction session.

Entry requirements:

  • You must be a qualified pharmacist or pharmacy technician with two years post qualification experience.
  • You must have access to two students, either NVQ level 2 or NVQ level 3 who you can assess in the workplace.
  • You will need a qualified assessor who is willing to countersign any decisions you make on your students work.
